Founded in 1995 by the visionary philanthropist Haji Ajmal Ali and inaugurated by Mother Teresa, the Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (HAMM Hospital) stands as a symbol of compassionate and inclusive healthcare in the heart of Hojai, Assam. As a charitable, not-for-profit institution, HAMM Hospital is committed to providing quality medical care to all sections of society, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or economic status.
Over nearly three decades of service, the hospital has earned the trust of patients from across Northeast India, serving as a vital health center known for its ethical practices, dedicated service, and a harmonious workforce drawn from diverse backgrounds.
HAMM Hospital is recognized for its focus on education and training. The institution is proud to offer Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programs in select specialties, contributing to the development of future medical professionals. The hospital also plans regular educative workshops on various topics. Free medico-educative cum treatment camps are also done, particularly aimed at rural and underserved populations, thereby reinforcing its mission of healthcare outreach and awareness.
As part of its deep-rooted commitment to social service, HAMM Hospital runs a wide range of charitable healthcare initiatives:
Till date, since the establishment of the hospital, more than 7 Lakh patients have received complete free treatment through our Charity Wing. These programs ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to the economically weaker sections of society, living up to the hospital's founding values of compassion and inclusivity.
As part of its long-term strategy, HAMM Hospital aims to transform into a full-fledged medical college, enhancing its role from a regional healthcare provider to a center for advanced medical education and research. This vision aligns with the hospital’s commitment to capacity building and the training of skilled healthcare professionals to serve the region and beyond.
The hospital places great emphasis on the personal and professional growth of its staff. Regular internal interviews, training programs, and performance assessments based on modern models such as the 9-box grid are conducted to nurture talent, improve service quality, and ensure a motivated workforce.
HAMM Hospital regularly engages with the community through health awareness drives, public safety programs, and interactive sessions with local organizations and citizens. Events such as the hospital’s 29th Anniversary Program on Doctor's Safety reflect its proactive approach to addressing contemporary healthcare challenges.
