Department of General Surgery – Overview
Department of Surgery, HAMM Hospital & RC was started with an operation on a blind person named Mr. Ashiq Uddin to remove a 750 grams urinary bladder stone. Since then, HAMM Hospital is offering innumerable number of basic to advance surgeries to cure the suffering humanity. The department was run by a single surgeon namely Dr. Chaidul Islam assisted by senior surgeons like Professor Asiruddin Ahmed, Dr. Ilias Ali, Dr. R.D. Bujarbaruah, Dr. P. K. Dasgupta etc. Presently department of surgery of HAMM Hospital is one of the most advanced surgical centers having all the modern state of the art gadgets & equipment like modular OTs, advanced laparoscopic equipment, endoscopy, ERCP, lasers etc. with sufficient numbers of surgeons & manpower. It has completed more than 80,000 surgeries till today and attracts surgical patients from all parts of the state. The department is also backed by advanced diagnostic and post-surgical care facilities including state of the art ICU care, enabling comprehensive treatment and smooth recovery.
The department of surgery has established itself as a training institute by organizing various seminars, conferences, live workshops, Observership program & traveling fellowship programs. Presently it’s a PG training Institute with DNBE approval.
