Haji Abdul Majid Memorial (HAMM) Hospital & Research Centre is not just a hospital—it is a legacy of love, sacrifice, and service. It was born from the deep pain my father, Late Haji Ajmal Ali Sahib (RA), endured watching his people suffer due to the lack of medical care.
I still remember his stories about poor pregnant women traveling all the way to Nagaon Town—50 kilometers from Hojai—just to consult a gynecologist or to deliver their child. The roads were in horrible condition, and the journey was agonizing for those already in distress. This was the turning point that strengthened his vision: Hojai needed a hospital—a place where people, especially the most vulnerable, could receive proper medical care without enduring such hardships. His dream was simple yet profound: no one should be denied treatment because they cannot afford it. This dream became his mission, and today, it is our sacred duty to carry it forward.
From a modest dispensary in 1986, HAMM Hospital has grown into one of the most affordable and advanced healthcare institutions in Northeast India. But beyond its walls, beyond its state-of-the-art technology, and beyond its growing reputation lies its true strength—the thousands of lives it touches every day.
Charity is not just a responsibility for us—it is our identity. Hundreds of patients receive free treatment, medicines, and diagnostics daily through our Charity Wing. The Trustees, including myself, personally ensure that no patient is turned away due to lack of money. It is our promise, and it will always remain so.
As the needs of the people grew, so did our responsibility. To extend our reach, we established three more unit hospitals in underserved areas: Al Salam Hospital, Goalpara, AWHAQ Hospital, Moirabari, Badarpur Hospital, Malua, Badarpur.
Each of these hospitals carries forward the same vision—accessible and quality healthcare for all. Recognizing the crucial role of skilled healthcare professionals, we also established a nursing school, empowering young women with opportunities to excel in this noble profession. This journey is not mine alone. It is the collective effort of my brothers—Mr. Amiruddin Ajmal, Mr. Fakhruddin Ajmal, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, and Late Nazirul Hoque Ajmal—along with all those associated with HAMM Hospital & RC. Their dedication, along with the relentless commitment of our doctors, nurses, staff, and well-wishers, has made this institution what it is today.
To all our wellwishers, donors, and supporters, who have stood by us, encouraged us, and contributed to this cause, I extend my deepest gratitude. The recognition by the Government of India, the expansion of our services to new hospitals, and the approval to offer postgraduate medical courses (DNBE) are milestones we cherish, but our real achievement lies in the smile of a healed patient and the prayers of a mother whose child has been saved. To all those who have supported us, trusted us, and walked this path with us—I thank you from the depths of my heart. HAMM Hospital is not just an institution; it is a movement, a mission, and above all, a blessing. We have come a long way, but there is still so much to do. And with Allah’s grace, we will continue to serve, heal, and uphold the vision of our beloved father.
